Kas ir mūzikas videoklips? To jautājam katru gadu Rīgas Starptautiskā kinofestivāla (RIGA IFF) Baltijas mūzikas videoklipu konkursā un no jauna atklājam ko iepriekš nenojaustu. Atbildes pamatdoma gan nemainās: mūzikas videoklips ir audiovizuāla pieredze, kas ir jāgūst kopīgi.
Baltijas mūzikas videoklipu konkursa kuratore Žanete Skarule stāsta: “Es patiesi ticu mūzikas video spējai ietekmēt un iedvesmot dažādu paaudžu skatītājus, kā arī vistiešākajā veidā atspoguļot sava laika kultūru, idejas, modi un politiku.”
Konkursa skate 24. oktobra plkst. 21.00 kinoteātra “Splendid Palace” Lielajā zālē, Rīgā, pulcēs skatītājus, festivāla viesus, darbu veidotājus un mūziķus, lai kopīgi pieredzētu mūzikas video visā to krāšņumā un neprātā. Mēs ticam, ka skatīšanās pieredze ir notikums!

Balsošanas noteikumi:
- Tiek pieņemts viens balsojums dienā no vienas ierīces.
- Balsošana notiek līdz 25.10.2024. dienas beigām, plkst. 23.59.
- Skatītāju balsojumā visvairāk balsu ieguvušā darba komanda saņems reklāmas kampaņas izvietošanas iespējas Radio SWH 1000,00 EUR vērtībā.
- Skatītāju balsojuma uzvarētājs tiks paziņots 26.10.2024. RIGA IFF apbalvošanas ceremonijā, kas notiks Rīgā, kinoteātrī “Splendid Palace”. Ceremonijas sākuma laiks – 20.30.

What is a music video? We raise this question every year at the Riga IFF Baltic Music Video Competition, and each time we discover something we never thought of before. However, the essence of the answer does not change: a music video is an audiovisual experience to be shared.
The curator of the Baltic Music Video Competition, Žanete Skarule, says: “I genuinely believe in the ability of music videos to influence and inspire all generations of viewers, as well as reflect the culture, ideas, fashion, and politics of their time in the most direct ways.”
The competition screening on 24 October at 21:00 in the Great Hall of the Splendid Palace in Riga will bring together audiences, festival guests, creators, and musicians to experience music videos in all their glory and madness. We believe that this watching experience is an event to remember!
Voting rules:
- One vote per day per device accepted.
- Voting is open until the end of the day on 25.10.2024, closing at 23:59.
- The creator team of the video that receives the most votes in the audience vote will be awarded the opportunity to run an advertising campaign on SWH radio station, valued at €1000.
- The winner of the audience vote will be announced on 26.10.2024 at the RIGA IFF awards ceremony, taking place at the Splendid Palace cinema in Riga. The ceremony starts at 20:30.

A journey in gentle 16 mm textures follows a paint merchant who is forced to confront his inner demon as he is doing his daily work. Zvīņas draws the viewer into a dreamlike reality where the protagonist is obsessed with a self-conceived figure of death that he has met in his sleep. As the hero’s death approaches, the audience is led to encounter figures of fantasy and the afterlife, Latvian mythology, and the mysticism of the forest.

Zariņa and Jordane reflect on the modern individual, exhausted by all sorts of crises and feeling tiny, much like Hans Christian Andersen’s Thumbelina. A modern interpretation of the well-known story is now a music video by the noise band Stabs. The directors playfully and critically explore the concepts of “strength in unity” and “everyone is the architect of their own fortune” in a socially charged, darkly witty puppet drama.
